TRANSIT VISA
Duration: 24-72 hoursVisitors require a transit visa if they happen to cross Kenyan territory using its airports or ports. If you have a connecting flight through one of Kenyan airports and must stop over, you must have a transit visa. Getting one is relatively easy and doesn’t take much effort. Once you apply with your documents and travel details like flight number, etc., you will be issued a Kenya transit visa for up to 72 hours.

What is Kenya's eTA?
The Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) is an online platform of the Kenya government. It is a system for applying for a visa before travelling to Kenya. Unless exempted, all travellers to Kenya must apply for their visa through eTA Kenya.
How long before I get a visa?
Regular visas, such as tourist, business, or transit visas, may take 2-3 business days to get approved. We recommend that you apply for a visa at least two weeks before your travel dates.
For how long is my eTA visa valid?
- Tourist visas are valid for 90 days and can be extended. - Business visas are valid for up to 180 days. - Transit visas are valid for 24-72 hours.
Do children under 18 years need a visa?
Yes, minors travelling to Kenya need a visa also. Legal guardians, parents or escorting adults should apply for their visa. To make this process easier, we recommend applying for a Group visa instead of an Individual visa.
How do I track my eTA request?
Track the status of your application on the official Kenyan government website. Use the reference number of the application (the one received in your confirmation email) to track the status. Here is the link: https://www.etakenya.go.ke
What is the cost of a Kenya visa?
The visa application fee is US $32.50 per person. Bank processing charges will also be added. Note that this fee is non-refundable if your visa is not approved.
Who is exempted from applying for a visa?
Kenya citizens and East African Partner States (EAPS) nationals are exempted from the eTA process. EAPS countries include – Burundi, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Rwanda, South Sudan, Tanzania and Uganda. Some diplomatic officials, dignitaries, and humanitarian missions may also be exempted from eTA.
